Chase Mahama with LGBTQ+ Bill in his office – Kokofu tells Foh Amoaning

Dr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu, Esq., former Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), has called on Lawyer Moses Foh Amoaning to chase President John Dramani Mahama with the Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, commonly referred to as the Anti-Gay Bill 2021, to sign.

According to him, the president, while in opposition, advocated for the signing of the bill, and now that he has the opportunity to sign the bill as president, he is refusing to do so.

Hence, Kokofu argued that Mahama’s recent statement, where he referred to the bill as effectively dead after failing to receive presidential assent before the end of the previous parliament, raises questions.

“Senior Lawyer Foh Amoaning, please, if you are not ready, visit the president. As an urgency of the matter, please go and visit him and ask him about the LGBTQ bill,” he said.

He added, “The Catholic Bishop told Mahama that they already know his stance on the bill, so they look forward to him signing it. Mahama was just going around the bush and saying all sorts of things.”

During a meeting with the Catholic Bishops, President Mahama explained that the bill’s failure provides an opportunity for a more inclusive conversation on the matter.
