{"id":273337,"date":"2024-12-31T12:25:42","date_gmt":"2024-12-31T12:25:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/12\/31\/npp-national-treasurer-refutes-misleading-report-on-party-donations\/"},"modified":"2024-12-31T12:25:42","modified_gmt":"2024-12-31T12:25:42","slug":"npp-national-treasurer-refutes-misleading-report-on-party-donations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/12\/31\/npp-national-treasurer-refutes-misleading-report-on-party-donations\/","title":{"rendered":"NPP National Treasurer refutes misleading report on party donations"},"content":{"rendered":"<br><div id=\"article-text\">\n                       \n                        \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The National Treasurer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Charles Dwamena has debunked claims of financial impropriety regarding a donation made by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement issued to all media houses, Dr Dwamena popularly called \u2018Dr. China\u2019 described recent reports as \u201cmisleading and diversionary,\u201d urging the public to disregard them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The publication in question allegedly suggested wrongdoing in the use of funds donated for the printing of the Party Executives ID cards from the polling stations to the national.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the NPP National Treasurer clarified the facts, explaining that the funds\u2014amounting to GH\u00a24,203,100.00\u2014were donated by a group called \u201cFriends of Dr. Bawumia\u201d to support the printing of ID cards for approximately 220,000 executive members from polling stations to international levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe IT Directorate was able to capture the data of about 180,000 Executive Members as some were unavailable. Out of the captured data, all cards have been processed, and over 90% have been printed and distributed to Executive Members across the country,\u201d the statement revealed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr Dwamena assured members that funds were disbursed following approval from both the National Chairman and the General Secretary, in line with party procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe structures and working procedures of the party make it impossible for the National Treasurer to make unilateral decisions, let alone spend funds without approval,\u201d the statement emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The NPP National Treasurer also used the opportunity to appreciate other notable contributions made to the party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe recognize the significant donations of Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, who supported over 200,000 party members with bags of rice, and Hon.
