Tema, Dec. 30, GNA \u2014 Dr. Benjamin Anyagre Aziginaateeg, the Chief Executive Officer of the Afro-Continental Union Consult (ACUC), has called on the Christian community to involve themselves and expand their role in Ghana\u2019s agribusiness and infrastructure development.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Dr. Aziginaateeg said this in a new year\u2019s goodwill message from the ACUC, a think-tank on African good governance, to the entire church body and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA).\u00a0<\/p>\n
He said the church ought to pursue good governance and encouraged it to expand its role by establishing agribusiness industries and engaging in innovative projects to aid the country\u2019s development.\u00a0<\/p>\n
These endeavours should be guided by biblical principles and teachings, ensuring that they align with moral and ethical standards while addressing practical needs.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He commended the churches\u2019 efforts in initiating programmes that focus on human well-being, such as building schools, health facilities, and other community-centered initiatives, which, according to him, reflected\u202fa commitment to improving lives and fostering societal growth.\u00a0<\/p>\n
According to the ACUC, the church must position itself at the forefront of a serious national reconstruction agenda\u202fby embracing a 24-hour economy multisectoral drive to contribute meaningfully as an engine of Ghana\u2019s robust infrastructural, technological, and overall socio-economic transformation.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe clergy leadership in Ghana is challenged to rise to this occasion, ensuring that their actions honour God\u2019s name while driving sustainable development,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He said in many Asian and Arab Muslim states, the Quran\u2019s teachings on socio-development transformation have been effectively utilised to enhance national development.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n
These teachings, he said, have contributed to policies that improve living standards by addressing poverty, hunger, and disease, adding that, as a result, these nations have achieved affordable food systems, decent housing, accessible clothing for all citizens, and overall happiness indices through good governance practices.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He called on the clergy to take inspiration from these examples, while tailoring solutions contextually relevant to Ghana\u2019s unique challenges.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cBy doing so, the church can play a pivotal role in creating a nation where infrastructure development and socio-economic progress are realised under God\u2019s guidance,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
