Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at his home in Plains, Georgia, surrounded by his family.<\/p>\n
He was 100 years old, making him the longest-lived president in U.S. history.<\/p>\n
Born with a strong sense of public service, Carter\u2019s life was marked by his commitment to peace, human rights, and humanitarian work.<\/p>\n
As president, he served from 1977 to 1981, and his administration was notable for its emphasis on social justice and human rights.<\/p>\n
Carter\u2019s presidency was also marked by significant foreign policy achievements, including the Camp David Accords, which brought peace between Israel and Egypt.<\/p>\n
After leaving office, Carter continued to be a prominent figure in international affairs, founding the Carter Center in 1982 with his wife, Rosalynn.<\/p>\n
The center has worked tirelessly to promote democracy, human rights, and global health, with Carter himself traveling extensively to promote peace and conflict resolution.<\/p>\n
Carter\u2019s passing has been met with an outpouring of tributes from around the world.<\/p>\n
His son, Chip Carter, remembered his father as a \u201chero\u201d who brought people together through his commitment to peace, human rights, and unselfish love.<\/p>\n
The Carter family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Carter Center.<\/p>\n
A state funeral will be held to honor Carter\u2019s life and legacy, with public observances planned in Atlanta and Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n
The final arrangements for the funeral, including motorcade routes and public events, will be released by the Joint Task Force-National Capital Region.<\/p>\n
