The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has clarified an alleged writ against the school from going ahead with its investiture ceremony for its new Vice-Chancellor.<\/p>\n
This follows Prof John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor\u2019s induction into office as the new Vice Chancellor of the UPSA on Friday, December 27, 2024.<\/p>\n
The university\u2019s Registrar, Lorraine B. Gyan, addressed the matter in a letter to the Chancellor, emphasising that UPSA has not been formally served with any writ, legal document, or correspondence related to the case.<\/p>\n
In the letter dated December 27, Gyan stated, \u201cAs Registrar, I must clarify and state unequivocally that the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has not been formally served with any writ, legal document, or correspondence.<\/p>\n
\u201cConsequently, I have not received any application for an interlocutory injunction against the University.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gyan noted that the university\u2019s lawyers advised that media reports alone, without a proper court order, could not prevent the ceremony from proceeding.<\/p>\n
She said the university successfully held an Oath of Office ceremony in accordance with the UPSA Act, Act 850 with the Deputy Minister of Education, representing the President, administering the oath to the incoming Vice-Chancellor as mandated by the Act.<\/p>\n
The Registrar expressed regret over the Chancellor\u2019s absence at the event but reaffirmed the university\u2019s commitment to adhering to legal and procedural standards.<\/p>\n
