The police in Wenchi have shot and killed a suspected armed robber during a gunfight on the Wenchi-Wa Highway in the Bono Region.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, December 29, 2024, at around 3:40 a.m., according to a report by graphic.com.gh.<\/p>\n

The report stated that four armed suspects opened fire on a police patrol team that had responded to a robbery incident near Awisa, a farming community in the Wenchi Municipality.<\/p>\n

The officers returned fire, resulting in an exchange of gunfire. One of the suspected robbers was killed in the process, while the others fled into a nearby bush.<\/p>\n

At the scene, the police recovered a locally manufactured single-barrel gun, six BB cartridges, an undisclosed amount of cash, and a student bag containing two Itel mobile phones and a power bank, believed to be stolen items.<\/p>\n

The suspects had allegedly attacked passengers traveling in a Sprinter minibus and a Yutong bus before the arrival of the police.<\/p>\n

The police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the remaining suspects.<\/p>\n
