{"id":272280,"date":"2024-12-29T08:04:17","date_gmt":"2024-12-29T08:04:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/12\/29\/ghanas-disability-community-seeks-government-intervention-for-inclusive-development\/"},"modified":"2024-12-29T08:04:17","modified_gmt":"2024-12-29T08:04:17","slug":"ghanas-disability-community-seeks-government-intervention-for-inclusive-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/12\/29\/ghanas-disability-community-seeks-government-intervention-for-inclusive-development\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghana\u2019s Disability Community seeks government intervention for inclusive development"},"content":{"rendered":"<br><div id=\"article-text\">\n                       \n                        \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Vice Chair of the Federation for Disability in the Twifo-Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region, Emmanuel Opare Addei, has made a desperate appeal for governmental support and inclusion of PWDs in national development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Mr Addei, most persons with disabilities in Ghana were struggling to access necessities, including education and employment opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The situation was exacerbated by inadequate infrastructure, with only one junior high school and one senior high school catering to the needs of persons with disabilities in the entire central region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr. Addei made the call when the CEO of T Boy Foundation, Emmanuel Affah Bronny, presented food items including bags of rice, cooking oil, canned fish, tomato paste and packs of bottled water to some PWDs in Twifo Praso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe need the government to establish more educational facilities and provide employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe also need to mobilize them into entrepreneurship, so they can become self-sufficient and contribute to the economy,\u201d Mr. Addei further stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He praised Mr Bronny for his continuous efforts in supporting persons with disabilities in the district and however, emphasised that more needed to be done to address the systemic issues facing the disability community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr Affah Bronny, echoed Mr Addei\u2019s sentiments, calling on the government to provide support and resources to persons with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also encouraged persons with disabilities to be courageous and proactive in seeking opportunities for growth and development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nana Kwame Boasirifi II, Chief of Twifo Eduabeng and Kyidomhene of Twifo Traditional Area added his voice to the call for action, emphasising the need for inclusivity and support for persons with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe must recognise that a person with disabilities is not a burden, but rather a valuable member of our society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe must work together to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for them to thrive,\u201d Nana Boasirifi noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that the plight of Ghana\u2019s disability community was a pressing concern that required immediate attention, and urged civil society, and all individuals to join hands with the government work to provide support, resources, and opportunities for persons with disabilities to reach their full potential.<gwmw style=\"display:none;\"\/><\/p>\n\n                <p><strong>DISCLAIMER: <\/strong>The Views, Comments, Opinions, Contributions and Statements made by Readers and Contributors on this platform do not necessarily represent the views or policy of Multimedia Group Limited.<\/p>      \n               \n <!-- Post Tags -->\n                \n\n                        \n\n    \n                                 \n                                             \n                    <\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Vice Chair of the Federation for Disability in the Twifo-Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region, Emmanuel Opare Addei, has made a desperate appeal for governmental support and inclusion of PWDs in national development.
