MP-elect Kwame Asare Obeng popularly known as A Plus has taken a swipe at a senior Police officer, who he says is scrambling to replace Dr. George Akuffo Dampare as Inspector-General of Police following the victory of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the polls. <\/p>\n According to him, the senior Police officer who was elevated into a position by President Akufo-Addo to ostensibly undermine IGP Dampare because he was not amenable to electoral manipulation is now seeking to project himself as the man for the job.<\/p>\n The comment comes on the back of pre-election concerns over the elevation of Christian Yohonu as Deputy Inspector-General of Police by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. <\/p>\n In a post on Facebook on Friday, December 27, 2024, A Plus said the country needs individuals who are fair and professional like Dr Dampare to hold positions for the development of the country and not people who put party over nation. <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m curious about how it seems everyone in Ghana is now a member of the NDC, including a police officer who was reportedly appointed by Akufo-Addo to assist in election rigging. Today, this same officer, according to him, according to him now, is so NDC that he is lobbying “gidigidi” to be appointed IGP. Please, we need people who are fair. People who are professionals and can stand their grounds to move Ghana forward. <\/p>\n “When you accepted that position from Akufo Addo, you were well aware that the NPP was desperate to rig the election. They knew Dr. Dampare would ensure a free and fair process, as he has proven, and couldn\u2019t be counted on to facilitate any rigging. <\/p>\n “They were aware that removing him during an election year was too risky, so they needed someone they could control\u2014and you stepped up, fully aware of the agenda, and began assembling your machinery,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n He concluded: \u201cThe Ghana Police Service is arguably one of the best in Africa when it comes to election. The institution\u2019s efforts are commendable and worthy of praise. Ghana\u2019s enviable democracy owes much to the crucial role the Ghana Police Service has played. <\/p>\n “However, as with any institution, there are a few bad apples, including \u201cCommander Boham.\u201d If Mahama appoints him as IGP, I\u2019ll break up\u201d with Lordina.
