The Association of Vice Chancellors Ghana has expressed concerns over the delayed release of the results for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).<\/p>\n
The Association has said the delay\u00a0could significantly disrupt the academic calendar of universities.<\/p>\n
The Executive Secretary, Dr. Sena Kpeglo-Freiku expressed the worry in an interview on Joy FM amidst the growing uncertainty over the government\u2019s debt owed to the West Africa Examination Council(WAEC).<\/p>\n
\u201cMost universities had planned to welcome first-year students by the second or third week of January. The admission process itself is a time-intensive exercise that involves analysing results, assigning students to programmes, and finalising placements.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the delays, even if the results are released soon, the process will be pushed into February or later. This creates a domino effect, disrupting academic calendars and reducing the effective time for teaching and learning,\u201d she bemoaned.<\/p>\n
So far, WAEC\u00a0 has received about GH\u20b585 million from the government to offset part of the GH\u00a2118 million owed.<\/p>\n
