The Telecel Ghana Foundation continues its mission to enhance health and well-being across Ghana through its flagship Healthfest initiative. On Thursday, December 19th, the Foundation held its impactful health screening event in Techiman, providing essential healthcare services to 447 residents of the Bono East Region.<\/p>\n
Beneficiaries of the initiative underwent comprehensive health checks conducted by a dedicated team of doctors, nurses, and pharmacists. Screenings were carried out for prevalent ailments including blood pressure, blood glucose levels, malaria, typhoid, Hepatitis B, etc.<\/p>\n
The screenings uncovered critical health insights, such as a significant number of individuals with high blood pressure and elevated blood glucose levels, highlighting the urgent need for increased health awareness and early intervention in the community.<\/p>\n
For Abena Mansah, a 35-year-old trader and participant, the initiative was life-changing.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been feeling unwell for months but couldn\u2019t afford a hospital visit. Today, I found out I have high blood pressure, and the advice from the doctors has been so helpful. I also renewed my NHIS card, so I feel more secure knowing I can now visit the clinic when needed,\u201d she shared.<\/p>\n
During the event, 300 residents were either enrolled or had their NHIS renewed, ensuring continued access to healthcare services at government and private health facilities.<\/p>\n
Additionally, participants received counseling and practical advice on effectively managing their health conditions.<\/p>\n
Rita Agyeiwaa Rockson, Head of Foundation, Sustainability and External Communications at Telecel Ghana, highlighted the Foundation\u2019s commitment to community empowerment through accessible healthcare.<\/p>\n
She stated, \u201cHealth is the foundation of every thriving community, and at Telecel Ghana Foundation, we believe healthcare is a basic right, not a privilege. Through Healthfest, we\u2019re not only addressing immediate health concerns but also ensuring that communities like Techiman can have access to long-term medical care. Our Healthfest is more than a one-day event. By
combining free health screenings with NHIS enrolment, we ensure that beneficiaries are well equipped to access essential healthcare beyond today.\u201d<\/p>\n
