The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has called on political stakeholders and citizens to accept the outcome of the 2024 general elections with humility, emphasizing the need for unity and development.<\/p>\n
His remarks come in the wake of a decisive victory by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by former President John Dramani Mahama, who reclaimed the presidency with a significant parliamentary majority.<\/p>\n
The New Patriotic Party (NPP), with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as its flagbearer, suffered a substantial defeat, losing both the presidency and several parliamentary seats.<\/p>\n
In his Christmas and New Year message to Ghanaians, Speaker Bagbin reflected on the challenges the nation has faced in governance, the economy, and democratic processes. He expressed optimism that these experiences will provide valuable lessons for improved governance and performance in 2025.<\/p>\n
The Speaker also urged all Ghanaians to prioritize national unity as a foundation for progress, emphasizing that collaboration and solidarity are essential for the country\u2019s post-election development.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am happy that God has intervened in a rather very difficult elections in this country. None of us thought that this would be the outcome of the 2024 general elections. But as God will have it, it has happened. My call to every one of us is to accept the results in humility\u2026To agree that this is how the Almighty God wants it to be and for us to reflect.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u2026To think deeply into our souls and ourselves to see what went wrong and what went right for each and every one of us and also for the country and for us to come together to build a nation because without a nation we are living in silos.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are living in tribes. We will be divided and that will give room for hatred and as you know the devil will play its role. I think it is important for us to come together. I think it is important for us to continue to be open to each other. I think it is important for us to dialogue and to try and use peaceful means, the rule of law to resolve our differences,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
