Contact the blog owner with any queries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"floatLeft\">Spencer Wan Blog of Thursday, 26 December 2024<\/p>\n<p class=\"floatRight\"><strong>Source: <\/strong>Eric Afatsao<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-left\">\n<p class=\"article-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ghanaweb.com\/imagelib\/blog\/939\/93919635.295.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"-webkit-user-select: none; -webkit-touch-callout: none; -moz-user-select: none; -ms-user-select: none; user-select: none;\">\n<p style=\"clear:right\" id=\"article-123\">Judge Kizita Naa Koowa Quarshie, who rule over the Criminal Division &#8220;5&#8221; of the High Court in Accra, has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of radio host Animwaa Anim-Addo on charges of defrauding Attorney-General and Justice Minister Godfred Yeboah Dame.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nFollowing Anim-Addo&#8217;s nonattendance in court on allegations of defrauding by false pretense and giving inconsistent grants of the same land to several parties, the warrant was issued.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nIn order to continue the lawsuit, it has been postponed until January 21, 2025.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nComplaints<\/p>\n<p>In her brief for Assistant State Attorney Isaac Wilberforce Mensah, prosecutor Assistant State Attorney Maame Afua Osei Gyamerah listed the following accusations:<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nWhen she approached Mr. Dame in September 2021, Anim-Addo stated that she urgently required $50,000 for spinal surgery in India that would save her life.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nAs security, she allegedly provided a plot of property in East Legon, with the promise that the money would be paid back in two months or used as a down payment on the land.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nAs a result of Anim-Addo&#8217;s persistent assurances and urgent requests, Mr. Dame, who had known her for three years from her help with public relations and media appearances, reluctantly handed her the money.<\/p>\n<p>Anim-Addo was on the air, conducting a radio show, when Mr. Dame returned from a trip to the United States a few days later.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nAnim-Addo stated when questioned that she had gone to India, had the surgery, and was back at work.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nAccording to subsequent investigations, Anim-Addo had not visited India or had any medical procedures done on him.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nIncongruous Land Grants<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nAnim-Addo sold the identical piece of land supplied as collateral to Cod Company Ltd., an estate developer, for $30,000, according to additional investigations.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nShe had represented the land to Hon. Dame for several months prior to this sale, which took place in April 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Legal action and a partial reimbursement<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nSince the case was filed, Anim-Addo has only given Mr. Dame back $5,000 of the $50,000, leaving $45,000 unpaid.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe purpose of the bench warrant was to guarantee her attendance in court so that the trial could proceed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This blog is managed by the content creator and not GhanaWeb, its affiliates, or employees.
