South Dayi Member of Parliament, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, has fumed at the Majority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, after the Electoral Commission declared seven out of nine outstanding parliamentary seats in favour of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).<\/p>\n Speaking as a guest on TV3\u2019s Hot Issues on Saturday, December 21, 2024, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP described the re-collation exercise being undertaken by the Electoral Commission as a machination attempt to dilute his party\u2019s two-thirds majority obtained in the 2024 parliamentary election.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen a matter is in court, don\u2019t you respect the court process? Today, Afenyo is granting a press conference, giving praises to an outcome of exercises that are still before the Supreme Court. And he is telling me to take it in good faith and that we are brothers. We are not brothers, Afenyo, we are not!\u201d he fumed.<\/p>\n He warned of serious retribution for the actions of the Electoral Commission and the NPP while emphasizing his party\u2019s position as a government in waiting.<\/p>\n \u201cThey may be in government, but they are no longer in power. The power has left them and is now transitioning to us. When we get the power, we will show them where power lies!\u201d he warned.<\/p>\n The South Dayi MP also accused the NPP of hypocrisy, alleging that the party, having lost the 2024 presidential election, has resorted to dubious tactics to secure extra parliamentary seats.<\/p>\n \u201cSome of these lies, Afenyo should stop this conduct. He should stop fabricating stories to spice up his press conferences,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Following a recent court ruling, the Electoral Commission resumed the collation of results for some nine disputed constituencies in the December 7 elections.<\/p>\n After the exercises on Saturday, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidates in seven respective constituencies were declared winners.<\/p>\n Four seats, which were initially declared for the NDC, namely Obuasi East, Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, and Techiman South, were re-declared in favour of the NPP.<\/p>\n The Obuasi East seat, which was initially declared for NDC\u2019s Samuel Aboagye, was re-declared for NPP\u2019s Patrick Boakye-Yiadom; the Tema Central seat, which was declared for NDC\u2019s Ebi Bright, was re-declared for NPP\u2019s Charles Forson.<\/p>\n Also, the Techiman South seat was re-declared for NPP\u2019s Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah after it had been initially declared for Christopher Beyere Baasongti, and the Okaikwei Central seat was re-declared for NPP\u2019s Dr. Patrick Boamah after it was initially declared for NDC\u2019s Baba Sadiq.<\/p>\n The Nsawam Adoagyiri, Ahafo Ano South West, and Ahafo Ano North constituencies, which were initially incomplete, were also declared in favour of the NPP\u2019s Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Eric Nana Agyeman-Prempeh, and Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah, respectively.<\/p>\n Two constituencies – Ablekuma North and Dome Kwabenya – are, however, yet to be determined.<\/p>\n For the Ablekuma North Constituency, NDC\u2019s Ewurabena Aubynn was declared the winner of the constituency\u2019s seat without the results of 62 polling stations.<\/p>\n The NPP\u2019s candidate for the constituency is Nana Akua Owusu Afriyieh, a former MP and the current Deputy Chief Executive of the Coastal Development Authority.<\/p>\n For Dome Kwabenya, NDC\u2019s Elikplim Akurugu was declared the winner of the constituency\u2019s seat, beating NPP\u2019s Mike Oquaye Jnr.<\/p>\n With the declaration of seven out of the nine outstanding constituencies, the composition of the parliamentary results as declared by the Electoral Commission is as follows:<\/p>\n \u2022 NPP (New Patriotic Party): 89 seats<\/p>\n \u2022 NDC (National Democratic Congress): 181 seats<\/p>\n \u2022 Independents: 4 seats<\/p>\n This leaves two seats still pending from Dome Kwabenya and Ablekuma North, bringing the total number of seats declared to 274 out of 276 in the House.<\/p>\n GA<\/p>\n Farouk Aliu Mahama breaks silence following loss of Yendi seat in Parliament<\/b><\/p>\n![\"South](\"https:\/\/cdn.ghanaweb.com\/imagelib\/pics\/835\/83512489.295.jpg\" "\\"South")
