The GIS clarified the facts and gave factual information about the e-Gates System and its associated charges in a press statement that was published on December 19, 2024. *The Real Cost Factors* The &#8220;Immigration 360,&#8221; a new integrated border management system being implemented by the GIS, aims to completely automate data management and passenger processing at all 48 authorized entry\/exit points to Ghana as well as other operational instructions. The new system will cost $94.6 million in total.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe GIS is building border management technologies, including an e-Gate component at the KIA, which will cost $5.5 million as part of Phase One of the project. The cost of the e-Gate system alone, which includes 15 e-Gates and accessories, is $1.7 million. The Misconception of $240 Million The $240 million mentioned in the widely shared piece on social media pertains to the project&#8217;s total cost, which includes the $94,664,374.57 initial implementation cost. Over the project&#8217;s ten-year duration, this sum also covers the cost of maintenance, licenses, and two recurring wholesale upgrades of the system&#8217;s essential components.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n*Cost Breakdown*: $94,664,374.57 was the initial implementation cost. The $240 million includes two recurring wholesale upgrades; the $240 million also covers maintenance and licenses for a ten-year term; the overall cost includes VAT and other taxes, which comes to $274 million. The Immigration 360 System&#8217;s advantages Among the many advantages of the Immigration 360 system is its smooth interaction with regional databases, including the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) and Ghana&#8217;s National Identification System (NIS).<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nAdditionally, it connects with global systems such as the Public Key Directory (PKD) of the ICAO and the Global Stop\/Watch List of INTERPOL. **Financing and Implementation* A private, regional Ghanaian business called Margins ID Systems Application Ltd. created the system.
