A cross section of Ghanaians has ranked the E-Levy and betting tax as the top issues they expect President-elect John Mahama to tackle once he is sworn in as President on January 7, 2024.<\/p>\n

According to them, these taxes have become major causes of the economic problems that Ghanaians are currently facing.<\/p>\n

The electronic transaction levy was instituted in 2022 to charge a 1% levy on electronic transactions above 100 cedis.<\/p>\n

The betting tax is also a 10% tax applied to all bet winnings, a tax policy that has been vehemently opposed by Ghanaians, especially the youth.<\/p>\n

Speaking to GhanaWeb TV, they said the President-elect must also review the Free Senior High School policy to make it more effective.<\/p>\n

A man who sells shoes noted: \u201cThe first thing the president should do is abolish the E-Levy. He should also cancel the betting tax and review Free SHS.\u201d<\/p>\n
