According to TV3 GH today, five mourners returning from a burial ceremony met a tragic end in the Oti Region when their vehicle crashed into a barrier, leading to their untimely deaths.

The devastating accident has left the community in deep sorrow, with families grieving their irreplaceable loss.

The mourners were traveling back home after paying their last respects to a loved one. Their vehicle, reportedly a passenger minibus, was filled with friends and relatives still wrapped in the emotions of the ceremony.

But what started as a solemn return journey quickly turned into a nightmare.

Eyewitnesses recounted the chilling moment the accident occurred. “The vehicle was speeding when it hit the barrier,” one witness shared.!["INSURANCE]("https://www.ghanamma.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/53f77a60117541218f40698c2439ff7c")

The sudden collision caused significant damage, leaving passengers with little chance of survival. Emergency responders who arrived at the scene described it as catastrophic, with debris strewn across the road.

Preliminary investigations by authorities suggest that speeding and poor visibility might have contributed to the accident. The driver, in an attempt to maneuver through the challenging road conditions, reportedly lost control before crashing into the barrier.

Road safety experts have repeatedly cautioned drivers in the Oti Region about the risks of speeding, especially on poorly lit and narrow roads. “We keep advising drivers to exercise caution, particularly at night,” said a local officer.

Family members of the victims are devastated by the loss. “How could this happen?” one relative lamented. “They just went to bury someone, and now we are planning another funeral for them.”!["One]("https://www.ghanamma.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/8c09f16717034923b71f9c23b5982dd1")

The incident has also sparked renewed calls for better road infrastructure in the region. Locals say the poor state of some roads and the absence of proper signage and lighting contribute to frequent accidents.
