Accra, Dec. 16, GNA \u2013\u00a0Opportunity International Savings and Loans Ltd (OISL)\u00a0has organised a\u00a0workshop\u00a0to help\u00a0young entrepreneurs\u00a0access financial services and sustain their businesses.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Institution\u2019s start-up loan product combines financial services with free financial and non-financial advisory services and business skills training to support clients in achieving their entrepreneurial goals.<\/p>\n

The workshop, held December 3, 2024,\u00a0attracted\u00a0more\u00a0than\u00a0200participants from\u00a0five\u00a0Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises(MSMEs)\u00a0sector associations.<\/p>\n

In his address,\u00a0Mr. Kwame Owusu-Boateng, Chief Executive Officer, OISL,\u00a0highlighted\u00a0the institution\u2019s\u00a0commitment to advancing financial inclusion and empowering young entrepreneurs through the Youth Start-Up Loans.<\/p>\n

He\u00a0said the\u00a0initiative\u00a0would\u00a0support economic growth,\u00a0reducepoverty,\u00a0and promote\u00a0\u201ca stable society.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cOpportunity International Savings and Loans Ltd aims not only to provide just financial support to youth-led businesses but also a complete package of support<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u00a0includes mentorship and capacity-building to ensure young entrepreneurs acquire the needed knowledge, skills, and guidance that will help them navigate the complexities of starting and growing a successful business,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

Opportunity International Savings and Loans Ltd was one of nine financial institutions selected to participate in GIZ\u2019s PFS capacity building for Banking & Microfinance Institutions on the MSME product development project.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mr Owusu-Boateng thanked\u00a0GIZ for their support through the GIZ PFS Programme,\u00a0implemented by GOPA AFC\/CDC Consult.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0collaboration, he noted, would\u00a0ensure\u00a0delivery of maximum benefits to young entrepreneurs within the community.<\/p>\n

Dr. Christian Jahn, the programme Manager for the PFS programme\u00a0at GIZ,\u00a0said\u00a0OISL\u2019s Youth Start-Up initiative \u00a0aligned\u00a0with GIZ\u2019s mission to enhance employment opportunities for MSMEs to contribute to the\u00a0growth of the Ghanaian economy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mr. Binyam Ayele, GOPA AFC Consultant, speaking on behalf of Dr. Oliver Schmidt, Senior Project Manager at GOPA AFC, noted that\u00a0the institution\u2019s financial product was designed to meet the high\u00a0demand for financial services, particularly,\u00a0among apprentices and graduates of vocational programmes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Participants were sensitised\u00a0on\u00a0topics\u00a0such as\u00a0loan acquisition processes,\u00a0financial literacy, and\u00a0savings.\u00a0<\/p>\n
