Per Vibe.com, the So Sick singer touched on his road to ultimately finding himself and why he switched to being polyamorous. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSociety tells you you\u2019re supposed to be with one person. You get married, and that\u2019s supposed to be the end-all, be-all,\u201d the Grammy-winning singer said. He also revealed that his divorce from Crystal Renay Williams in 2022 helped him embrace his true self.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI realized that I\u2019ve not been living my truth for a very, very long time,\u201d Ne-Yo stated. \u201cNow I\u2019m living it, and you can tell\u2014my skin is glowing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The singer also said that over a certain period in his life, he was \u201clying and trying to be somebody I wasn\u2019t\u201d in order to please others. \u201cIt\u2019s a weight lifted off my shoulders,\u201d he explained. Ne-Yo also said all of that acting was \u201ccomplete and utter time wasted.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The 45-year-old clarified that his current stance on monogamy does not mean he\u2019s condemning the practice. \u201cMonogamy is for you. It\u2019s not for me,\u201d he said. \u201cEverything\u2019s not for everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ne-Yo also said that his relationship with Renay has since improved after he embraced his truth. \u201cAs long as my happy ain\u2019t messing with anybody else\u2019s happy, I\u2019m in the right place,\u201d the Mad singer said. \u201cI\u2019ll be damned if I ever go back to that person that needed to lie for the appeasement of somebody else.
