{"id":265152,"date":"2024-12-13T17:56:43","date_gmt":"2024-12-13T17:56:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/12\/13\/martha-ankomah-rejects-lilwins-public-apology-case-adjourned-to-february-25\/"},"modified":"2024-12-13T17:56:43","modified_gmt":"2024-12-13T17:56:43","slug":"martha-ankomah-rejects-lilwins-public-apology-case-adjourned-to-february-25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/12\/13\/martha-ankomah-rejects-lilwins-public-apology-case-adjourned-to-february-25\/","title":{"rendered":"Martha Ankomah rejects LilWin\u2019s public apology, case adjourned to February 25"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"article-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ghanaweb.com\/imagelib\/pics\/815\/81526183.295.jpg\" alt=\"LilWin and Martha Ankomah\" title=\"LilWin and Martha Ankomah\" width=\"295\" height=\"219\" \/> <span class=\"image_caption\"><span>LilWin and Martha Ankomah<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"-webkit-user-select: none; -webkit-touch-callout: none; -moz-user-select: none; -ms-user-select: none; user-select: none;\">\n<p id=\"article-123\">Actress Martha Ankomah is said to have rejected Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah, also known as LilWin\u2019s public apology in the GH\u00a25 million defamation case before the High Court.<\/p>\n<p>Information gathered by EIB Network\u2019s Legal Affairs Correspondent, Murtala Inusah, indicates that the actress deemed the said apology as one that lacks the elements of proper retraction and apology.<\/p>\n<p>In light of this, a new public apology that is deemed acceptable is more likely to be expected as the parties continue to hold discussions to settle the matter out of court.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the High Court in Accra has adjourned the case to February 25, 2025, for the parties to announce the terms of settlement.<\/p>\n<p>The case on Friday, December 13, 2024, was held on camera and lasted for nearly 3 hours with both parties and their lawyers streamlining how to settle the matter amicably.<\/p>\n<p>Both Martha Ankomah, the plaintiff, and LilWin, the defendant, were present in court together with their respective lawyers.<\/p>\n<p>On February 14, this year, actress Martha Ankomah initiated a defamation action against popular Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah over alleged disparaging comments about her.<\/p>\n<p>Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, was heard in a viral video allegedly insulting the actress for comments she is alleged to have made.<\/p>\n<p>But an incensed LilWin in the video was heard downplaying Martha\u2019s prominence in the film industry.<\/p>\n<p>In a suit filed at the High Court in Accra on February 14, Martha Ankomah is demanding damages, among others, in the sum of GH\u00a25 million.<\/p>\n<p>Ankomah, the plaintiff in the action, is also seeking an apology and a retraction of the said defamatory words with the same prominence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDamages in the sum of GH\u00a25 million for the defamatory statements made by the defendant. Compensatory damages for the damage done to the reputation of the plaintiff.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAggravated damages for the reckless and malicious publication of the defamatory words.
