Musician and newly elected Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame A Plus, has clarified that his focus in office will be on serving his constituents, not advocating for the entertainment industry.<\/p>\n

A Plus, in an interview with Graphic Showbiz, emphasised that his primary responsibility is to the people of Gomoa Central who elected him, not the creative industry. <\/p>\n

According to him, no major creative industry groups, such as the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) or the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), supported his campaign. <\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want anyone to think that Kwame A Plus is going to Parliament to fight for the interests of the entertainment industry. That is not my business there; my interest is to work and bring satisfaction to the people of Gomoa Central who voted massively for me because of the confidence they have in me.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo creative industry person or group put me in Parliament. When I was contesting, there wasn\u2019t any word of support from the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), or the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) or any creative group to rally support for me. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt was just a few of my friends in the industry who solidly stood by me throughout. So nobody should tell me I\u2019m representing the creative industry; I\u2019m going to Parliament to serve the interests of the people of Gomoa Central,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

A Plus also pointed out that many in the creative industry think highly of themselves, often feeling more important despite the challenges they face. <\/p>\n

He praised Shatta Wale for his vocal advocacy on industry issues, suggesting that others should pay attention to the dancehall musician.<\/p>\n

\u201cShatta Wale has been talking too much sense. They should go and listen to what he says; I know it will help them,\u201d A Plus added.<\/p>\n

A Plus won the parliamentary seat for Gomoa Central with 14,277 votes, defeating the incumbent NPP MP, Naana Eyiah Quansah, by a margin of 2,640 votes. <\/p>\n
