This marks a significant upset, as Koomson had held the seat since the constituency&#8217;s creation in 2012 .<\/p>\n<p>The election was marred by violence, with reports of attacks, gunfire, and alleged ballot stuffing. One person was shot and injured, and a suspect is currently on the run. Four individuals were also arrested for possession of AK-47 weapons and ammunition .<\/p>\n<p>Despite the challenges, the Electoral Officer declared Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor the winner with 50,886 votes, defeating Koomson&#8217;s 45,638. Okunor has vowed to ensure justice for the deceased and to bring a &#8220;new dawn&#8221; to the constituency .<\/p>\n<p>Koomson had previously won the seat in 2020 with 57,114 votes (52.55%) against Okunor&#8217;s 51,561 (47.45%) .
