Boamah, representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP), received 21,171 votes to retain the constituency. His major challenger, Abdulai Abu Baba Abubakar Sadiq of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), put up a tough fight but fell short with 19,272.<\/p>\n<p>Voter Turnout and Statistics<\/p>\n<p>The voter turnout for the constituency stood at 61.8%, with 40,443 ballots cast out of 65,431 registered voters. A total of 164 ballots were rejected during the counting process.<\/p>\n<p>Presidential Results in Okaikwei Central In the constituency&#8217;s presidential campaign, NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia received 16,785 votes, while NDC contender John Dramani Mahama received 21,890 votes, demonstrating Mahama&#8217;s domination.<\/p>\n<p>Collation Delays Amid Chaos<\/p>\n<p>Tensions occurred during the collation process on December 7 at the Ansurudeen Islamic School polling station, when confusion arose due to space limits. The Presiding Officer requested a reduction in the number of polling agents, resulting in conflicts. The disagreement erupted, culminating in the damage of voting booths and subsequent delays in the collation process.
