His main contender, Abdulai Abu Baba Abubakar Sadiq of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), mounted a strong challenge but fell short of victory with 18, 783.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Voter Turnout and Statistics<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The voter turnout for the constituency stood at 61.8%, with 40,443 ballots cast out of 65,431 registered voters. A total of 164 ballots were rejected during the counting process.<\/p>\n<p>Presidential Results in Okaikwei Central<\/p>\n<p>In the presidential race within the constituency, NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia received 16,785 votes, while NDC candidate John Dramani Mahama garnered 21,890 votes, reflecting Mahama\u2019s dominance in the area.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Collation Delays Amid Chaos<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tensions flared during the collation process on December 7 at the Ansurudeen Islamic School polling station, where confusion broke out over space constraints.<\/p>\n<p>The Presiding Officer requested a reduction in the number of polling agents, which led to disagreements.
