On December 8, as John Dramani Mahama’s victory became clear, Reverend Owusu Bempah held a full church service to mark the significant moment. The televangelist, who had prophesied Mahama’s win in the 2024 elections, was joined by numerous Ghanaian politicians, including Sammy Gyamfi, as they celebrated the milestone.

This prophecy, however, was met with a fair amount of controversy. Reverend Owusu Bempah had previously prophesied in favor of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which sparked debates among his followers and critics alike. Despite this, the renowned religious figure maintained that no one could ascend to the highest office without his involvement. In fact, weeks before the election, Mahama, the NDC’s presidential candidate, knelt before him to receive an anointing.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s presidential candidate, has conceded defeat and congratulated Mahama as the next president, though the Electoral Commission has yet to issue an official announcement. Meanwhile, the atmosphere at Reverend Owusu Bempah’s church was electric, with Sammy Gyamfi and many others celebrating what they believed was a prophetic victory.
