Media personality MC Portfolio has opened up on the reason his initial relationship with dancehall musician Shatta Wale turned sour.

In a discussion on Hitz FM on December 5, 2024, MC Portfolio stated that Shatta Wale had asked him to betray his loyalty to fellow industry figures, including Andy Dosty and DJ Slim, a request he turned down, leading to their fallout.

“At a point in time, there was a brouhaha between Shatta Wale and Andy Dosty and he (Shatta) asked me to in a way betray Andy. Shatta also told me one time that I have built a relationship with him to a certain point and that I should openly be in his defense when such a thing occurs.

“But I told him there is no way I would betray my loyalty for Andy and please him and I don’t want to be part of it. But he was not happy with that and our relationship became shaky. At the time I took the Stonebowy agenda, my relationship with Shatta was not too good. Moreover, I have been a BHIM fan while I was with Shatta,” he said.

Portfolio also addressed claims by DJ Slim that he had followed Shatta Wale around during his recent media tour in Kumasi.

“After the thing happened, I lost contact with him for over two years. When he came to Kumasi to do a media tour, he came on my show I designed on Fakye Showbiz, and the surprising thing is I didn’t even know how he got on the show. It was an hour before the show that we got an impromptu idea that Shatta was coming on the program.

“So the impression Slim painted that I was following Shatta Wale around in Kumasi was false. Even when he wanted to give me the money, I asked the reason why he was giving me the money. And he said he was giving me the money out of appreciation for the work I did for him. So I didn’t take the money from him because I want to betray Stonebwoy,” he said.

MC Portfolio also recounted an instance when Shatta Wale’s road manager asked for him to be removed from the show on Angel FM before Shatta would agree to an interview.

“You see when Shatta Wale came to Angel FM before we went to Fakye Showbiz. So the thing was, I was on the show on Angel FM when his road manager came and told everyone that I should leave or else Shatta Wale would not grant us the interview.

“So Sammy Flex came in and told me in a polite manner that I should leave the premises for his sake, and at the right time, I will come inside. And because I respect him a lot I left the scene. I had to come back because I had a segment on the show that was the reason why I waited,” he added. The controversy began on November 22, 2024, when Shatta Wale visited the Ashanti Region for a media tour, making stops at stations like Angel FM and Fakye Showbiz.

During his appearance on Fakye Showbiz, Shatta Wale offered MC Portfolio, a close associate of Stonebwoy, GH¢5,000 live on TV, sparking widespread condemnation.

Critics slammed Portfolio for accepting the money from Shatta Wale, who is considered Stonebwoy’s greatest rival in the industry.

Watch some videos from the Special Voting below:

!["From]("https://cdn.ghanaweb.com/imagelib/pics/610/61076855.295.jpg" ""From")
