According to the Transport Operators Association of Ghana, \u201cin response to the continuous rise in fuel prices,\u201d it is \u201ccompelled to announce a 15% increase in transport fares\u201d.<\/p>\n

The increment, per a Wednesday, December 4, 2024, statement by the association comes into effect tomorrow, Thursday, December 5, 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis decision has become necessary as we face increasing operational costs, making it unsustainable to maintain current fare levels,\u201d the statement explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe kindly appeal to the public to bear with us during this challenging period, as this adjustment is critical to ensure the viability of our operations and continued service delivery.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Transport Operators Association, also, took the \u201copportunity to caution our drivers not to succumb to intimidation or undue pressure from any individuals or groups seeking to prevent the implementation of this fare increment\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the past, certain leadership members from our umbrella organizations have allowed government officials to influence the withdrawal of fare adjustments. However, we are resolute in our decision this time around,\u201d the association noted.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe urge all Ghanaians to support this adjustment and appreciate the need for a sustainable transport system amidst the prevailing economic conditions,\u201d the statement emphasised.<\/p>\n

It concluded by encouraging \u201call Ghanaians to participate peacefully in the upcoming general elections on 7th December 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet us work together to uphold peace and unity in our beloved nation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you for your understanding and cooperation.\u201d<\/p>\n
