{"id":260306,"date":"2024-12-04T13:07:26","date_gmt":"2024-12-04T13:07:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/12\/04\/judicial-service-denies-allegations-of-politically-motivated-judges-transfers\/"},"modified":"2024-12-04T13:07:26","modified_gmt":"2024-12-04T13:07:26","slug":"judicial-service-denies-allegations-of-politically-motivated-judges-transfers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/12\/04\/judicial-service-denies-allegations-of-politically-motivated-judges-transfers\/","title":{"rendered":"Judicial service denies allegations of politically motivated judges\u2019 transfers"},"content":{"rendered":"<br><div id=\"article-text\">\n                       \n                        \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Judicial Service of Ghana (JSG) has dismissed claims that recent transfers of judges were intended to disrupt cases nearing judgment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The service has described such allegations as misleading and unfounded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a press statement issued on December 3, 2024, the JSG responded to reports published by The Herald newspaper and other media outlets, which suggested that the Chief Justice\u2019s decision to transfer Justice Priscilla Dikro Ofori was meant to frustrate the Special Prosecutor\u2019s anti-corruption efforts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The reports claimed the judge was transferred just as she was set to deliver judgment in the criminal trial of Alex Kwabena Sarfo Kantanka, the failed Juaben Municipal Chief Executive nominee, accused of bribing Assembly members to approve his nomination. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1b6AsnJIl2XxpShb62ndz24xEUeVL-Cv9\/preview\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" allow=\"autoplay\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The JSG clarified that the transfers are part of routine administrative procedures aimed at improving judicial efficiency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Administratively, transfer of judges is done annually and when necessitated by circumstances related to the judges or the courts they serve in,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Judicial Service explained that Justice Priscilla Dikro Ofori\u2019s transfer from Kumasi to Accra was part of the 2024 legal year\u2019s reassignment of over 20 judges across all court levels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement stressed that procedures are in place to ensure that judges on transfer complete outstanding judgments and trials nearing conclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cJustice Priscilla Dikro Ofori has submitted a Case Completion Plan and has been authorized to deliver all outstanding judgments and rulings,\u201d the statement said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The JSG added that the judge presented the required documentation on November 29, 2024, enabling her to continue handling cases that were close to completion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The JSG stated that judicial transfers are not designed to interfere with ongoing cases. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTransfers are not done or intended to truncate cases,\u201d the statement affirmed, urging the public to rely on accurate information regarding judicial operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement also called on media outlets to cross-check their facts before publication. \u201cThe Judicial Service entreats members of the media to painstakingly verify information to provide factual and balanced reports to the public,\u201d it added, offering contact information for the Public Relations Office for clarification on such matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Judicial Service reiterated its commitment to transparency and efficient administration of justice, encouraging the public to dismiss misleading narratives about routine judicial transfers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Read Also: Judge transferred just before judgment delivery in OSP\u2019s corruption case against failed Juaben MCE nominee<\/p>\n\n                <p><strong>DISCLAIMER: <\/strong>The Views, Comments, Opinions, Contributions and Statements made by Readers and Contributors on this platform do not necessarily represent the views or policy of Multimedia Group Limited.<\/p>      \n               \n <!-- Post Tags -->\n                \n\n                        \n\n    \n                                 \n                                             \n                    <\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Judicial Service of Ghana (JSG) has dismissed claims that recent transfers of judges were intended to disrupt cases nearing judgment.
