An initiative geared towards addressing foundational learning crisis across primary schools in the country has been rolled out by the\u00a0Ghana Education Service (GES).<\/p>\n
Dubbed: \u201cThe Differentiated Learning Plus (DL+)\u201d the new initiative is\u00a0a comprehensive strategy\u00a0that employ innovative approaches to educating pupils at the primary levels.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Briefing \u00a0the Ghanaian Times on the initiative in Accra yesterday, \u00a0the head of the public relations unit of the GES said \u00a0it was an innovative approach\u00a0being implemented with technical and financial support fromUnited Nations International Children\u2019s Emergency Fund (UNICEF)\u00a0Ghana.<\/p>\n\n<\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n
She explained that the\u00a0DL+ initiative focused\u00a0on improving learners literacy and numeracy skills among basic 2 to 6 learners.<\/p>\n
Ms Twum-Ampofo said it\u00a0promoted\u00a0combined teaching methods to include targeted instructions, universal design for learning and play-based \u00a0learning to enhance teachers skills,\u00a0while\u00a0engaging families and communities in the learning process.<\/p>\n
This approach\u00a0she said\u00a0allowed\u00a0learners to develop their skills and improve their performance by their abilities rather than their grades.<\/p>\n
Ms Twum-Ampofo said the GES\u00a0was committed to improving learning outcomes for all\u00a0pupils, and the DL+ initiative\u00a0was a critical step towards achieving this goal.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the support of partners like UNICEF Ghana, the GES is confident that this initiative will have a lasting impact on the education sector in Ghana,\u201d she emphasised.<\/p>\n
