As Ghana’s general elections approach, the two major presidential candidates, NPP’s Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and NDC’s John Dramani Mahama, have been visiting churches and engaging with religious leaders.

On December 1, 2024, Dr. Bawumia’s visit to the Believers Worship Center in Kumasi grabbed massive attention when videos surfaced showing the church’s founder, Prophet Adom Kyei Duah, praying fervently for the NPP flagbearer.

In the video, Bawumia was seen being draped in a shawl while the prophet prayed for his success.

The video went viral, and some viewers praised the ‘spiritual’ moment, while others couldn’t resist making funny comparisons to the entertainment world.

Memes flooded social media, with some netizens linking Bawumia’s ‘shawl moment’ to a similar scene in rapper Sarkodie’s iconic “Adonai” music video, where he was also draped in a shawl at a church.

Fans pointed out the striking resemblance between the two events, drawing attention to the symbolic nature of both moments.

Taking the humour further, some users shared a photo of Dr. Bawumia in a mosque alongside another church image, captioning it “Three-Factor Authentication”, a playful jab at his spiritual journeys ahead of the election.

Other netizens likened the video to a theatre production.

Here are a few of the entertaining social media posts that caught attention:

Sarkodie Adonai Refix ft Bawumia -It is Possible pic.twitter.com/yoybFhNhvW

— Caleb Qwofi Right (@calebeshun) December 1, 2024

Adonai. ????? pic.twitter.com/7m2idhfWh6

— Torgbuigà (@Mr_Ceyram) December 2, 2024

Looks like our man has activated – Three Factor Authentication (3-FA)! 🕌🎎⛪️⚠️ pic.twitter.com/jxDUlGcD8r

— MacJordan 👨🏾‍💻🇨🇦🇬🇭 (@MacJordaN) December 2, 2024

Bawumia the Bene Gesserit https://t.co/eNLHA5ZNq7 pic.twitter.com/0AROl96FK7

— C.
