The Minister of Finance, Mohammed Amin Adam, has announced that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved the third review of Ghana’s $3 billion credit facility. <\/p>\n

This, he said, has unlocked an immediate disbursement of about $360 million. <\/p>\n

“With three successful IMF reviews in a row, it shows the determination of the government to turn the economy to winning ways. We have demonstrated uncharacteristic discipline in fiscal management,” Amin was quoted by Reuters. <\/p>\n

He added that: “We appreciate the enormous work we still have to do, and we will do everything for the benefit of our people.” <\/p>\n

The IMF board approved Ghana’s current lending programme in May 2023 for a period of 3 years. <\/p>\n

The loan is to cushion the economy against inflationary pressures and the current economic crisis it faces. <\/p>\n
