{"id":258555,"date":"2024-12-01T05:25:42","date_gmt":"2024-12-01T05:25:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/12\/01\/next-mahama-government-will-prioritise-volta-region-like-never-before-benjamin-quashie\/"},"modified":"2024-12-01T05:25:42","modified_gmt":"2024-12-01T05:25:42","slug":"next-mahama-government-will-prioritise-volta-region-like-never-before-benjamin-quashie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/12\/01\/next-mahama-government-will-prioritise-volta-region-like-never-before-benjamin-quashie\/","title":{"rendered":"Next Mahama government will prioritise Volta Region like never before \u2013 Benjamin Quashie"},"content":{"rendered":"<br><div id=\"article-text\">\n                       \n                        \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a bid to galvanise support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and maximise votes in the Volta Region, Mr Benjamin Kofi Quashie, Chair of the NDC\u2019s South Africa Council of Elders, has pledged that a future John Mahama-led government will focus on unprecedented development in the region.<gwmw style=\"display:none;\"\/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He urged the people of the Volta Region to vote overwhelmingly for the party in the upcoming 2024 elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking during an interview on Accra 100.5 FM on Saturday, 30 November 2024, Mr Quashie emphasised that the NDC\u2019s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, is committed to addressing the grievances of the Volta Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe next John Dramani Mahama government will take care of the Volta Region like never before,\u201d he stated, calling on the electorate to rally behind the party for victory on 7 December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reflecting on past elections, Mr Quashie acknowledged voter apathy among NDC supporters in the Volta Region, which has traditionally been the party\u2019s stronghold or \u201cWorld Bank.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He noted that many supporters felt underappreciated despite their unwavering loyalty to the NDC. \u201cWe lost the previous elections because our people complained of doing a lot for the NDC but not being recognised, which led to apathy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The party has mobilised supporters across the region to canvass votes for John Mahama and other NDC parliamentary candidates to rectify this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr Quashie stressed that Mahama\u2019s pledge to ensure the region benefits significantly under the next NDC government has resonated with the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He argued that this has shifted political discourse in the region away from empty promises and vote-buying towards addressing economic realities and the NDC\u2019s vision for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr Quashie also praised the efforts of NDC parliamentary candidates in the region, highlighting their grassroots engagement strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis time, it\u2019s not about rallies; it\u2019s about educating the people, going to them, and listening to their concerns,\u201d he noted.
