Di two leading candidates for di 7 December elections in Ghana don sign peace pact say dem go accept di result of di election wey dem go ensure say di kontri dey peaceful.

Di Vice President and goment party (new patriotic party NPP) candidate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia togeda wit ex-president John Mahama of di opposition national democratic congress (NDC) both gree say dem go ensure peace.

10 oda candidates wey include di movement for change leader Alan Kyerematen, Nana Kwame Bediako of di ‘new force’, Nana Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumamkukah from di CPP, Dr Hassan Ayarigah of di APC and odas sign di pact.

Di candidates sign di peace pact ahead of di crucial vote in a few days.

Bifor now, di opposition party NDC and dia candidate di former president John Mahama bin complain say dem no go sign di pact unless di peace council and oda stakeholders fix some issues dem get.

But di peace council wey draft di peace pact tok say dem consider all di concerns of di NDC candidate and odas wey dem draft di document.

During di programme to sign di document, chairperson of di electoral commission

Jean Mensa tok say di commission go “organize election wey be smooth and peaceful; wia all di parties go accept di outcome.”

“We go dey transparent as we don dey do since di process begin from registration to collation and declaration of di results wey we hope all di candidates go accept di results,” di EC boss tok

Madam Jean Mensa explain say “afta di process, di kontri go dey peaceful to remain di beacon of democracy for Africa.”

Di inspector general of police (IGP) Dr George Akuffo Dampare wey be oga for di election security taskforce tok say dem go ensure “peace and order during and afta di process.”

“We dey committed and we no go be di source of any wahala during di polls, we also bin urge oda stakeholders to also ensure say dem no be di source of any wahala wey go affect di peace of di kontri,” di IGP tok.

Im add say “we no fit disappoint ourserf and di kontri wey our forefathers carry give us.”

Di IGP explain say “make una no let Ghana fade away, make we do our best.”

Presidential candidate for di opposition NDC, John Mahama tok say im and di party dey committed to ensure say di kontri no go catch fire afta di vote.

Im warn say make pipo “stop dey tok anyhow and use foul language against odas ahead of di poll; we gat to focus on issues for di elections.”

John Mahama also urge di electoral commission to “remain impartial wey make dem also ensure say pipo go fit go out and vote peacefully without intimidation.”

Di former president add say if pipo no dey trust di electoral commission and di security agencies, di peace pact no go reach anywhere.

Im still tok for di event say as “na sad tin say goment no take action on di killing of 8 pipo for di 2020 elections and oda violence wey happun for di kontri”

Im also wonder why goment no take action on top one commission report wia investigate violence for di Ayawaso west wuogon bye-election.

For di goment party candidate VP Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to sign di peace pact dey important well well.

“Each time we don go elections, we don come out on top and dis one no go be different.”

“On 7 December, afta di vote, na two tins wey go happun. Ghana go win and peace go reign.”

Di VP also bin tok say make we everyone “take responsibility to ensure peace and harmony.”

“I don dey hope say we go comot dis election stronger and all sides go uphold di peace and stability.”

Di VP say im “pledge to work wit all di stakeholders for free and fair election wey I invite odas to do di same tin,” Dr Bawumia tok.

Di chief justice Gertrude Torkornoo wey also dey di signing of di presidential election peace pact tok say di judiciary don train dia pipo on how to deal wit election-dispute

“Our doors dey open for everyone to settle election disputes like di way we don do am in di past wit two presidential election petitions wey come di Supreme Court.”

Her ladyship di chief justice add say “I stand here to assure una say di judiciary dey prepared for dis election wey we go do our best to solve any problem wey go happun.”

Di chairperson of di African Union high representative for silencing di guns Dr Mohammed Ibn Chambas don witness di signing of di peace pact by di candidates.

Im tok say “no place for cutlass, gun and stones for elections. So as di candidates don sign dis pact, we hope say dem go tok dia followers to follow am.”

Dr Ibn Chambas say one of di cause of wahala for many kontris na elections wey dem no do am well, but “Ghana don show say dem gat experience to do beta elections.”

“Wit days to di poll, di pressure don dey on di EC, security, media and di candidates, wey we expect say everibodi go do dia work. Everibodi also gat to dey professional for dia job, make media also avoid fake news, rumours and oda bad tins.”

Dr Ibn Chambas also warn say di judiciary sabi dey fair for dia work sake of “to delay justice mean say you dey deny pipo justice.”
