Additionally, it will be used with recyclable receptacles, replacing the single-use polythene bags previously employed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Sustainability and Innovation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cocobod officials believe the soilless technology has the potential to mitigate environmental degradation caused by illegal mining and topsoil extraction, ensuring more sustainable agricultural practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking at a training session held at Akyem-Tafo in the Eastern Region, Deputy Executive Director of Cocobod\u2019s Seed Production Division, Dr. Alfred Arthur, expressed confidence in the new medium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis soilless medium, made from cocoa husk and fortified with slow-release fertilizer, is lighter, environmentally friendly, and reusable. He detailed the steps for preparing and using the medium: filling 30 receptacles with 25 kilograms of the Miracle-Gro Potting Mix, planting seeds horizontally, applying four grams of slow-release fertilizer per receptacle, and watering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Opoku noted that the new method significantly reduces land degradation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTopsoil extraction for seedling production contributes to severe land degradation.
