{"id":254624,"date":"2024-11-22T13:02:31","date_gmt":"2024-11-22T13:02:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/22\/i-didnt-demolish-gbc-staff-bungalow\/"},"modified":"2024-11-22T13:02:31","modified_gmt":"2024-11-22T13:02:31","slug":"i-didnt-demolish-gbc-staff-bungalow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/22\/i-didnt-demolish-gbc-staff-bungalow\/","title":{"rendered":"I didn&#8217;t demolish GBC staff bungalow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Member of Parliament for Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfro and Deputy Minister for Information, Sylvester Tetteh, has announced plans to investigate the allocation of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) lands to private individuals in the Akwasa area, where a recent demolition occurred.<\/p>\n<p>Tetteh, speaking after he was accused of demolishing a GBC structure, dismissed the allegations, attributing the negative publicity to administrative lapses within the broadcaster.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that there is an agreement between the GA South Municipal Assembly and GBC to use the disputed land for a public school, which led to the demolition of the structure, a process he says was carried out by the Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>The MP further challenged GBC\u2019s Director of Legal Affairs to provide evidence that he demolished a different parcel of land, rather than the one allocated to him for development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a sector deputy minister, and my boss will approve that, I will institute investigations into how GBC lands have ended up building private homes here where we are standing. So he should get ready. If he\u2019s a director of legal and he had the impudence to report his sector deputy minister to the police and had the gut to put my picture on their social media handle.<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cI want to deal with the matter of lies that have been spilt about me that I have forcefully demolished the bungalow. What he claimed to be GBC property, a bungalow. There\u2019s no bungalow here. There\u2019s an old dilapidated structure here and let me tell you, there\u2019s one man who\u2019s has been an occupant of that place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019ve been collecting money from him for years. No GBC staff had ever occupied that place for a very long time. It\u2019s a boy\u2019s quarters dilapidated building. Nobody works in GBC had occupied that property and when the estate manager was here and the coordinates were picked, the coordinates that were picked, that included that whole area. So if you want to build there and an old dilapidated structure is there, what do you do?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t you clear it before you do the construction? So this is the site plan I\u2019ll share with you. This is a letter sent by Kwame Waja on the instructions of the director general. Where have I gone wrong? Where has the assembly gone wrong? The municipal assembly has not done anything untoward. So this issue of a lawless MP.
