{"id":254435,"date":"2024-11-22T08:38:46","date_gmt":"2024-11-22T08:38:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/22\/peasant-farmers-vow-to-hold-next-govt-accountable-over-manifesto-promise\/"},"modified":"2024-11-22T08:38:46","modified_gmt":"2024-11-22T08:38:46","slug":"peasant-farmers-vow-to-hold-next-govt-accountable-over-manifesto-promise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/22\/peasant-farmers-vow-to-hold-next-govt-accountable-over-manifesto-promise\/","title":{"rendered":"Peasant farmers vow to hold next govt accountable over manifesto promise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Peasant Farmers Association of Ghana has pledged to hold the incoming government in 2025 accountable for delivering on promises to improve the agricultural sector.<\/p>\n<p>The Association emphasized the need for better incentives and a supportive environment to ensure the sustainability of peasant farming.<\/p>\n<p>At the Political Parties\u2019 Accountability Forum on Agriculture in Accra, the Acting Executive Director of the Association, Bismark Nortey, called on the next administration to prioritize commitments outlined in political manifestos.<\/p>\n<p>Nortey stressed that accountability should be seen as a constructive measure rather than an attack, urging the government to create policies that enable farmers to thrive and contribute effectively to national development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the next 16 days, Ghanaians will make a critical decision to elect a new president to run the affairs of the country for the next 4 years. It is therefore crucial that the manifestoes of parties who seek to rule us are carefully scrutinised to determine whether or not they accurately identify the problems faced by Ghanaians and provide workable and actionable solutions clearly and concisely.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 2024 elections offer farmers a great opportunity to scrutinise the various political parties\u2019 manifestoes especially their plans for farmers and agricultural sector in general.
