The Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council has reported significant progress under the government\u2019s District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), with approximately 80 kilometres of roads across five district assemblies receiving improvements.<\/p>\n
The initiative, launched in July, aims to equip Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) with resources and tools to rehabilitate and maintain local road networks.<\/p>\n
During a site visit, Ebenezer Nii Narh Nartey, Regional Coordinator of the DRIP project, noted that the programme has transformed previously unmotorable, cut-off, and inaccessible roads in communities such as Awoshie, Sowutuom, Amasaman, Old Barrier, and Weija.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think when we went to Weija-Gbawe, that is Ga South, they gave us 26 kilometres. Currently, we are at Ga West, they have given us almost about 18 kilometres. When we went to Ga North, we were talking about 12 kilometres.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere has been an addition in other areas too and so in all, we are talking about getting to almost about 80 kilometres of road that has been done within this three, four months by DRIP and I think that is very impressive.\u201d<\/p>\n
