{"id":253548,"date":"2024-11-20T17:56:37","date_gmt":"2024-11-20T17:56:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/20\/early-cancer-detection-reduces-risk-of-death-doctor\/"},"modified":"2024-11-20T17:56:37","modified_gmt":"2024-11-20T17:56:37","slug":"early-cancer-detection-reduces-risk-of-death-doctor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/20\/early-cancer-detection-reduces-risk-of-death-doctor\/","title":{"rendered":"Early cancer detection reduces risk of death &#8211; Doctor"},"content":{"rendered":"<br><div id=\"article-text\">\n                       \n                        \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A doctor at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr. Sika Lumor, has provided education on the seriousness of cancer and the need for early detection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Lumor cautioned that late detection of the disease could result in preventable deaths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to her, the probability of dying from cancer is as high as 50%, which underscores the critical importance of early diagnosis and timely intervention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She added that \u201cbecause people are getting cancer and the side effect is huge that is why they celebrate Anesthesia and Cancer\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The medical practitioner said this on Asempa FM\u2019s Ekosiisen Show on Wednesday, November 20, while educating the public on the effect of cancer and Anesthesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf someone get the cancer and we diagnose it fast it helps the person to avoid surgery or radiotherapy.\u201d Before one does the surgery they have to check whether the person has other chronic diseases and test the blood.
