{"id":252715,"date":"2024-11-19T11:38:11","date_gmt":"2024-11-19T11:38:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/19\/its-time-to-embrace-change\/"},"modified":"2024-11-19T11:38:11","modified_gmt":"2024-11-19T11:38:11","slug":"its-time-to-embrace-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/19\/its-time-to-embrace-change\/","title":{"rendered":"It\u2019s time to embrace change"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"article-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ghanaweb.com\/imagelib\/pics\/680\/68055478.295.jpg\" alt=\"Players of Hearts of Oak pose for a team photo before a game\" title=\"Players of Hearts of Oak pose for a team photo before a game\" width=\"295\" height=\"197\" \/> <span class=\"play-icon\">play video<\/span><span class=\"image_caption\"><span>Players of Hearts of Oak pose for a team photo before a game<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"-webkit-user-select: none; -webkit-touch-callout: none; -moz-user-select: none; -ms-user-select: none; user-select: none;\">\n<p id=\"article-123\">As Hearts of Oak continues to struggle, Prince Tagoe, a former striker for the club, has called for reforms within its leadership. <\/p>\n<p>Tagoe enjoyed great success during his time at Hearts of Oak, winning the CAF Confederations Cup and the league title.<\/p>\n<p>However, the glory days, when Hearts of Oak dominated Ghanaian football, are now a distant memory. <\/p>\n<p>Although the club has had moments of success, including their 2021 league title under Samuel Boadu, they have failed to establish themselves as one of Africa\u2019s elite teams.<\/p>\n<p>This prompted Tagoe to urge the club\u2019s chairman, Togbe Afede XIV, to bring in new personnel with innovative ideas to restore Hearts of Oak to its former glory. <\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Sports Check on GhanaWeb, Tagoe called for the removal of board members Vincent Sowah-Odotei and Alhaji Imoro Brimah, popularly known as Alhaji Akambi, if they do not stop interfering with player policies. He identified their outdated leadership as the root of the club\u2019s problems.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Togbe Afede wants to keep those people around, they shouldn\u2019t come close to player selection and signing decisions. They should leave everything to the manager. If not, all those people need to be sacked,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Tagoe also advocated for a complete overhaul of the club\u2019s leadership, replacing the old guard with innovative thinkers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not running football with a mindset from the \u201960s battalions, you have to change it. So many things have evolved since my time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the CEO is working with them and you\u2019re not getting results, you need to make changes. Every team, when there\u2019s a problem and progress isn\u2019t being made, makes changes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t keep these old men there and think they have the best solutions for the new generation. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey should remove everyone and bring in new people who are ready to work and who won\u2019t interfere with the coach\u2019s decisions,\u201d Tagoe added.<\/p>\n<p>Hearts of Oak\u2019s last league triumph came in 2021, when Samuel Boadu led them to their 21st title, their first in eleven years.
