Inusah Fuseini, former National Democratic Congress, NDC Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, has urged Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin to respect the Supreme Court\u2019s ruling declaring his declaration of four parliamentary seats vacant as unconstitutional.<\/p>\n
This comes amid a history of tension between the NDC and the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n
The Supreme Court\u2019s 5-2 decision on November 12, 2024, overturned Bagbin\u2019s declaration, which affected NDC\u2019s Peter Yaw Kwakye Ackah, NPP\u2019s Andrew Amoako Asiamah, Kwadjo Asante, and Cynthia Morrison.
The Speaker\u2019s move aimed to shift Ghana\u2019s hung parliament in the NDC\u2019s favor.<\/p>\n
NDC\u2019s Criticisms<\/strong><\/p>\nFormer President John Mahama has previously expressed dissatisfaction with the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n
In 2020, Mahama criticized the Court\u2019s decision on the voters\u2019 register case. Other NDC members have also questioned the Court\u2019s impartiality.<\/p>\n
However Fuseini\u2019s call for Bagbin to respect the ruling marks a departure from the NDC\u2019s previous stance.<\/p>\n
