{"id":251183,"date":"2024-11-15T05:43:13","date_gmt":"2024-11-15T05:43:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/15\/we-are-one-of-the-top-electoral-bodies-in-africa\/"},"modified":"2024-11-15T05:43:13","modified_gmt":"2024-11-15T05:43:13","slug":"we-are-one-of-the-top-electoral-bodies-in-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/15\/we-are-one-of-the-top-electoral-bodies-in-africa\/","title":{"rendered":"We are one of the top electoral bodies in Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Electoral Commission (EC) has strongly rejected claims that public trust in its operations is waning ahead of the December 7 general elections.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to concerns raised in an Afrobarometer report by the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), which indicated that many Ghanaians are increasingly sceptical about the Commission\u2019s impartiality, the EC insists it is fully prepared to deliver credible and transparent elections.<\/p>\n<p>The report from CDD-Ghana highlighted that a significant portion of the population doubts the EC\u2019s independence and impartiality.<\/p>\n<p>However, Dr. Eric Bossman Asare, Deputy Chairperson of the EC, stated in a media interview that these concerns are unfounded and reassured the public of the Commission\u2019s dedication to electoral integrity.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out that the EC has taken extensive measures to enhance the credibility of the electoral process, including deploying advanced biometric systems, training poll staff rigorously, and strengthening oversight mechanisms at all polling stations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou talk about the quality of elections in Africa, Ghana is one of the best in the continent.
