{"id":250928,"date":"2024-11-14T15:53:35","date_gmt":"2024-11-14T15:53:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/14\/court-denies-bail-to-28-suspects-in-violent-kwahu-abetifi-destoolment-attempt\/"},"modified":"2024-11-14T15:53:35","modified_gmt":"2024-11-14T15:53:35","slug":"court-denies-bail-to-28-suspects-in-violent-kwahu-abetifi-destoolment-attempt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/14\/court-denies-bail-to-28-suspects-in-violent-kwahu-abetifi-destoolment-attempt\/","title":{"rendered":"Court denies bail to 28 suspects in violent Kwahu Abetifi destoolment attempt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Mpraeso Circuit Court has denied a bail application filed by lawyers of the 28 suspects who allegedly kidnapped the Chief of Kwahu Abetifi in a destoolment attempt that led to the violent clashes in the community.<\/p>\n<p>The court presided over by Her Lordship Adwoa Akyemaa Ofosu remanded the 28 suspects to reappear on November 27th following pleas from the prosecution indicating they are yet to conclude with their investigations.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1107599\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/ARR.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1048\" height=\"600\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Mr. Effah Nkrabia Dartey who represented the accused persons expressed his frustrations over the refusal by the court to grant his client bail.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTruth be told, I totally disagree with the judge, because these people were arrested a week ago and sent to cells leading the police to surround the whole environment, what at all are they investigating that is taking so much time I don\u2019t understand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1107602\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/COR-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1047\" height=\"598\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were charged guilty of kidnapping and firing weapons, but everyone has to be charged individually with specific charges it wasn\u2019t like that they combined everything and made it general which is not the best. No one will be happy about that if he or she is treated that way. The court grants them bail until the investigation is over.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Abetifi Traditional Council remained satisfied with the outcome of today\u2019s court proceeding, indicating it is prudent to get other suspects who are currently at large.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1107600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/NN.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1043\" height=\"591\"  \/>Nana Saka Darko speaks for the Abetifi Traditional\u00a0Council.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI agree with the court 100% for not granting the victims bail because some of the people who were involved have not been arrested yet so there is no essence of granting them bail.
