The \u201cBoosting Green Employ\u00adment and Enter\u00adprise Opportu\u00adnities in Ghana (GrEEn)\u201d project has ended with over 2,370 jobs created and about 190,000 people benefiting, for improved liveli\u00adhoods.<\/p>\n The \u20ac20.6 million joint project by the European Union (EU), the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the United Na\u00adtions Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) aimed at addressing the root causes of irregular migra\u00adtion by creating climate-resilient economic and employment oppor\u00adtunities, particularly for the youth, women and returning migrants.<\/p>\n Implemented over the last four years, the project, executed in 10 districts of the Ashanti and Western Regions, aligned with the government Coordinated Pro\u00adgramme of Economic and Social Development policy (2021-2025) for creating prosperity and equal opportunities for all.<\/p>\n Speaking in a speech read on his behalf at the close-out ceremony in Accra, the Minister of Local Government, Decentral\u00adisation and Rural Development, Mr Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, attributed the success of the project to a stronger collaboration with the private sector.<\/p>\n \u201cThrough this project, we have seen the power of collaboration between the government, the pri\u00advate sector and our development partners, controlling the capacity of these groups. As we continue to scale up these efforts, it is important to acknowledge how these invest\u00adments contribute not only to environmental sustainability but also to local job creation and eco\u00adnomic empowerment, furthering the government\u2019s commitment to decentralised development,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n Moving forward, the Minister called for more support from the EU, UNCDF and all relevant stakeholders for the continuation and design of phase two of the project to cover more Metro\u00adpolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across the country.<\/p>\n Mr Jonas Claes, Deputy Head of Delegation, EU, said the GrEEn project served as a powerful strate\u00adgy for creating new opportunities, improving quality of life, and ensuring community resilience to external shocks.<\/p>\n \u201cWhether it is through climate risk-informed planning or green infrastructure investment, the GrEEn project proves that Gha\u00adna\u2019s future is brightest when both environment and economy come together,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n He expressed the EU\u2019s com\u00admitment to continually support the country in scaling up innova\u00adtions and embracing the lessons from this project to enhance the lives of returning migrants while reducing unemployment.<\/p>\n The Regional Coordinator, UNCDF, Christel Alvergne, noted that the successful project positioned Ghana for better opportunities in green space.<\/p>\n \u201cThis moment signifies not only the culmination of collective efforts over the past five years but also a pivotal step towards a more sustainable and inclusive future for Ghana.\u201d<\/p>\n Watch the latest edition of BizTech below:<\/b><\/p>\n![\"Minister](\"https:\/\/cdn.ghanaweb.com\/imagelib\/pics\/764\/76491482.295.jpg\" "\\"Minister")
