{"id":250162,"date":"2024-11-13T11:55:38","date_gmt":"2024-11-13T11:55:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/13\/gacl-donates-dialysis-machines-promises-one-month-free-treatment-for-renal-patients-2\/"},"modified":"2024-11-13T11:55:38","modified_gmt":"2024-11-13T11:55:38","slug":"gacl-donates-dialysis-machines-promises-one-month-free-treatment-for-renal-patients-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/13\/gacl-donates-dialysis-machines-promises-one-month-free-treatment-for-renal-patients-2\/","title":{"rendered":"GACL donates dialysis machines, promises one -month free treatment for renal patients"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) has donated two dialysis machines and two chairs to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>This contribution is aimed at alleviating the challenges faced by healthcare workers at the Korle-Bu Dialysis Unit.<\/p>\n<p>The donated items, valued at approximately $112,000 (1.9 million Ghana cedis), will also fund one month of free dialysis treatment for 50 patients at the unit.<\/p>\n<p><figure>\n        <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/638eee67d580ed15a6a0a5fa31c81c40\" alt=\"\" data-image-width=\"1227\" data-image-height=\"697\"\/><br \/>\n       <\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the donation event, Mrs Yvonne Opare, Managing Director of GACL, expressed optimism that the donation would significantly benefit those in need.<\/p>\n<p><figure>\n        <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/f69f6339abe240da1d6b72569e15cfcc\" alt=\"\" data-image-width=\"1144\" data-image-height=\"609\"\/><br \/>\n       <\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve seen reports about equipment shortages at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. As an organization, we\u2019ve decided to make these donations, and I\u2019m confident it will go a long way toward addressing some of the challenges here. Not only are we providing the machines, but we also want to make a difference in the lives of at least 50 people. Similar initiatives will be extended to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital,\u201d she revealed.<\/p>\n<p><figure>\n        <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/ac7cd3b2c9b23c91faefb8db8b4f43b7\" alt=\"\" data-image-width=\"1055\" data-image-height=\"570\"\/><br \/>\n       <\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Frank Owusu-Sekyere, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the generous donation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very grateful and promise to put these machines to good use. It is disheartening that individuals suffering from life-changing illnesses like dialysis treatment should have to struggle. However, we know that health is a shared responsibility, and we cannot do it alone, especially here at Korle Bu.
