Rather, the ability to generate wealth depends largely on an individual’s attitude.’’

He further explained that many businesses, which people often overlook or fail to respect, end up generating significant income in ways that may not be immediately obvious.

In an illustrative example, Dr. McKorley shared a story about a woman who was given an interest-free loan of 10,000 cedis to expand her kenkey and fried fish business. Despite his initial indifference to the potential success of the venture, the woman managed to generate sales of 6,000 cedis within just three months, demonstrating the value of a determined mindset in business.

Job creation, Dr. McKorley stated, ‘Is a cause close to his heart.’’ He lamented the fact that many people believe their social standing or level of education limits their ability to succeed in business.

“Regardless of whether you are literate or not, anyone can bring their business ideas forward,” he explained. “You don’t need formal schooling to present a business idea, and we are ready to coach and support you.”

He emphasised that the true aim of the business challenge run by his company is not solely focused on the prize money, but on the person behind the business idea. “The goal is to create champions, create jobs, and change the mindset and mentality of the youth out there,” Dr. McKorley said.

After a competition winner is selected and awarded the substantial prize money, Dr. McKorley said his team continues to provide guidance and monitoring to ensure the long-term success of the business.

“We don’t just give money and walk away,” he explained, “We follow the individual, visit their business, engage with them, and ensure they are properly supported as they grow their enterprise.”

Dr. McKorley reiterated his firm belief that cultivating hard work, self-reliance, and a positive mindset are essential for the future success of the next generation of entrepreneurs. By fostering these qualities, he hopes to inspire a wave of innovation and job creation across the country.

DISCLAIMER: The Views, Comments, Opinions, Contributions and Statements made by Readers and Contributors on this platform do not necessarily represent the views or policy of Multimedia Group Limited.

Chairman of the McDan Group of Companies, Dr. Daniel McKorley, has underscored the critical importance of changing people’s mindsets to understand the value of hard work and self-reliance. Speaking on the JOY99.7 FM Super Morning Show, the prominent business mogul highlighted the necessity of cultivating a spirit of self-reliance and entrepreneurship, particularly among the youth.
