{"id":249800,"date":"2024-11-12T19:02:27","date_gmt":"2024-11-12T19:02:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/12\/galamsey-ministers-npp-executives-responsible-for-illegal-mining-menace\/"},"modified":"2024-11-12T19:02:27","modified_gmt":"2024-11-12T19:02:27","slug":"galamsey-ministers-npp-executives-responsible-for-illegal-mining-menace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/12\/galamsey-ministers-npp-executives-responsible-for-illegal-mining-menace\/","title":{"rendered":"Galamsey: Ministers, NPP executives responsible for illegal mining menace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Director of Elections, has accused government ministers and appointees under President Akufo-Addo\u2019s administration of leading illegal mining activities, known as <em>galamsey<\/em>, which have severely polluted the country\u2019s water bodies.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Omane Boamah claims that leaders within the NPP government and party officials have repeatedly encroached on forest reserves to engage in illegal mining, yet the legal system has not held them accountable.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to residents in Boadua, Akwatia Constituency, during the second day of his five-day campaign tour of the Eastern Region, Dr. Omane Boamah pledged that a future John Dramani Mahama government would implement strong, reliable measures to promote responsible mining practices and protect the environment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that some people are roaming about saying a whole lot of stuff about illegal mining.
