{"id":249680,"date":"2024-11-12T15:21:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-12T15:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/12\/nlc-directs-gha-workers-to-suspend-strike\/"},"modified":"2024-11-12T15:21:00","modified_gmt":"2024-11-12T15:21:00","slug":"nlc-directs-gha-workers-to-suspend-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/12\/nlc-directs-gha-workers-to-suspend-strike\/","title":{"rendered":"NLC directs GHA workers to suspend strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The National Labour Commission (NLC) has directed workers of the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) to suspend their ongoing strike action.<\/p>\n<p>The GHA workers started indefinite strike action on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, in protest against the implementation of the National Roads Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1118).<\/p>\n<p>The workers argued that the Act, which seeks to merge the GHA with the Department of Urban Roads and the Department of Feeder Roads, would reduce the Authority\u2019s autonomy and increase bureaucratic inefficiency.<\/p>\n<p>At the heart of the dispute is a demand for the removal of two key officials: Ing. I.K. Mensah, the Chairman of the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) Board, and Ing. Collins B.
