{"id":249399,"date":"2024-11-12T08:03:54","date_gmt":"2024-11-12T08:03:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/12\/kurt-okraku-must-resign-if-ghana-fail-to-qualify-for-2025-afcon-kudjoe-fianoo\/"},"modified":"2024-11-12T08:03:54","modified_gmt":"2024-11-12T08:03:54","slug":"kurt-okraku-must-resign-if-ghana-fail-to-qualify-for-2025-afcon-kudjoe-fianoo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/12\/kurt-okraku-must-resign-if-ghana-fail-to-qualify-for-2025-afcon-kudjoe-fianoo\/","title":{"rendered":"Kurt Okraku must resign if Ghana fail to qualify for 2025 AFCON \u2013 Kudjoe Fianoo"},"content":{"rendered":"<br><div id=\"article-text\">\n                       \n                        \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association, Kudjoe Fianoo, says Kurt Okraku must step down from his position as FA President if Ghana fail to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ghana is on the verge of losing out at next year\u2019s AFCON, which Morocco will host, after a string of poor results in the ongoing qualifiers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ghana is winless after four matches in Group F and it will take a miracle for the four-time champions to qualify for the 2025 AFCON.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ghana will have to win against Angola away and Niger at home while hoping that Sudan will lose their next two games before the Black Stars can secure qualification to the 2025 AFCON.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking to Delali Atiase of Luv fm, the former Ashgold SC CEO stressed that Kurt has no business leading Ghana football if the Black Stars fail to make it to the 2025 AFCON.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn a few days\u2019 time we will know our fate as to whether we will play in the AFCON or not. AFCON qualification in the last 20 years was automatic for Ghana even when we had credible contenders in our group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe participating teams in AFCON have been increased to 24 teams now which should make qualification easier but we are struggling to qualify. If they fail to qualify for AFCON, I don\u2019t know if there\u2019s any failure worse than that and that is why if that happens, they need to eat humble pie and resign. In five years, we have changed about six coaches, what can they say is the reason why we are not doing well?\u201d Mr Fianoo quizzed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the former Ashgold CEO, the current FA leadership has nothing to offer Ghana football if the country misses out of the 2025 AFCON, something that has not happened to Ghana in the last two decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI don\u2019t think they have anything more to offer Ghana football if we fail to make it. Having gone to AFCON in Cameroon and Ivory Coast we did not go beyond the group stage and if these are the metrics we are to measure then there\u2019s nothing to show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cJust check the investment that is going into all these failures and Ghana, a third world country that is struggling to survive economically.
