Dr. Mark Assibey-Yeboah, Chairman of the Economic Sub-Committee for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Manifesto, has clarified that the party\u2019s Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is not distancing himself from the NPP\u2019s record in government.<\/p>\n
Dr. Bawumia recently faced criticism after referring to himself as a \u201cdriver\u2019s mate\u201d and appealing to Ghanaians to elect him to take full charge of the \u201cwheel,\u201d which some interpreted as an attempt to separate himself from the current administration\u2019s achievements and challenges.<\/p>\n
However, Dr. Assibey-Yeboah, in an interview on The Point of View with Bernard Avle on Channel One TV, countered these perceptions, emphasizing that Dr. Bawumia stands fully behind the party\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n
He added that the NPP\u2019s development initiatives and policy accomplishments have resonated positively with Ghanaians, who, he believes, are eager to retain the NPP in power for continuity and progress.<\/p>\n
\u201cBawumia is not running away from the NPP\u2019s record, as a matter of fact, he detailed what we have done, in 7 and half years. And there\u2019s collateral responsibility and he takes responsibility for [that]. We will put the NPP\u2019s record side by side with the NDC\u2019s record because that is where the fight is.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I go around the country, I see people who are excited about voting for the NPP. There are a lot of youth who for the first time will get the opportunity to express their appreciation for the Free SHS they have enjoyed and all the other beautiful things they are seeing. There\u2019s the social media politics and things run around, people share and people are commenting, but it\u2019s a different ball game.\u201d<\/p>\n
When voted into power, Dr Assibey-Yeboah expressed Dr Bawumia\u2019s commitment to proffer solutions to the economic challenges.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhich is why he\u2019s proffering solutions in the next phase. Post-December 2022, the management of the economy has been better. Now things are improving.\u201d<\/p>\n
