The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has defended its decision to withdraw from the intended nationwide strike by Organised Labour on the government\u2019s failure to fight illegal mining.<\/p>\n

GMA pulled out of the strike citing humanitarian reasons.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the 66th annual conference of the Ghana Medical Association, President of the Association, Dr. Frank Serebour, said they did what was right.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe decision by the GMA not to join the Organised Labour strike or intended strike on the 10th of October 2024 was a majority decision by the council of the GMA. You hear people say, oh, it was not a council decision. The decision was taken on the 3rd of October 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cTwo days after the decision was taken, before members could be informed, there was a leak from the council platform to the media.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis planted the virus of chaos and generated various forms of discussions with some seriously uncomplimentary.\u201d<\/p>\n
