{"id":249028,"date":"2024-11-11T15:13:10","date_gmt":"2024-11-11T15:13:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/11\/ghana-sees-rise-in-human-trafficking-report\/"},"modified":"2024-11-11T15:13:10","modified_gmt":"2024-11-11T15:13:10","slug":"ghana-sees-rise-in-human-trafficking-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/11\/ghana-sees-rise-in-human-trafficking-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghana sees rise in human trafficking &#8211; Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<br><div id=\"article-text\">\n                       \n                        \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 2024 Ibrahim Index of African Governance has revealed that Ghana\u2019s anti-trafficking measures saw negative results from 2018 to 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once hailed as a regional leader in the fight against trafficking, the country has seen a disturbing trend in a fall in the absence of human trafficking cases. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From 2013 to 2024, Ghana made notable progress in reducing trafficking activities, but recent reports indicate an alarming resurgence, reversing much of the progress made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From 2014 to 2018, Ghana\u2019s anti-trafficking measures saw positive results with a constant rating of 68.8 out of 100.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It however began to experience a fall from 2019 to 2023 with 2022 and 2023 recording the worst figure of 31.3. out of 100.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10032635828 lazyload ewww_webp_lazy_load\" src=\"https:\/\/www.myjoyonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/image-24-5.jpg\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"451\" data-eio-rwidth=\"800\" data-eio-rheight=\"451\" src-webp=\"https:\/\/www.myjoyonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/image-24-5.jpg.webp\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.myjoyonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/image-24-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10032635828\" data-eio=\"l\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the Ministry of Gender,\u00a0Children and Social Protection\u2019s aim to prevent human\u00a0trafficking,\u00a060 law enforcement agencies have been equipped with advanced level capacity-building training programme to understand the dimensions and the urgency to end adult and child trafficking,\u00a0child labour, irregular migration and all forms of exploitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While Ghana has made considerable progress in its fight against human trafficking, the recent rise in cases highlights the ongoing challenges faced by the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fall in the absence of trafficking in recent years signals that, greater efforts are needed to protect vulnerable individuals and prevent traffickers from exploiting them.<\/p>\n\n                <p><strong>DISCLAIMER: <\/strong>The Views, Comments, Opinions, Contributions and Statements made by Readers and Contributors on this platform do not necessarily represent the views or policy of Multimedia Group Limited.<\/p>      \n               \n <!-- Post Tags -->\n                \n\n                        \n\n    \n                                 \n                                             \n                    <\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2024 Ibrahim Index of African Governance has revealed that Ghana\u2019s anti-trafficking measures saw negative results from 2018 to 2023.
